Galt High School’s FFA Agricultural Issues Team

Congratulation to the Galt High School’s FFA Agricultural Issues Team which recently won the Championship at the California FFA Convention in San Luis Obispo.

As a part of their contest preparation the team, along with teacher and coach Dane White  made practice visits to AIC in Davis as well to the California Farm Bureau Federation and the Office of CDFA Secretary Karen Ross.

At AIC one evening in April the team presented their material in the form of a balanced debate about the likely effects of the TransPacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement that is now before Congress.  AIC staff Dan Sumner, Hyunok Lee and Georgi Gabrielyan made a few suggestions and followed up with some clarifications on the text the students had developed.

These high school juniors and seniors, all on track to further their education at colleges around California, did an impressive amount of quality research and presented their material with clarity and confidence.  We wish them the best representing California in the National competition in October.
